Transport Guide for Barcelona Airport (BCN)
Barcelona's El Prat de Llobregat Airport lies 8 miles distance out southwest and is the nearest airport to the city. It has 2 terminals which are a few miles apart, served by a 15 minute free shuttle bus trip. Terminal 1 opened in 2009, Terminal 2 is divided into 3 buildings now renamed T2A, T2B and T2C. Low cost flights arrive and depart from Terminal 2A or 2C (easyJet).
Barcelona city has a very good low-cost local public transport system, including bus and coach, modern trams, an efficient underground and excellent train services.
Taxi
Metered taxis stop outside all terminals, fares to the city centre and Plaza Espana should cost about 20-30 Euros, (a bit more at weekends) for a 20-30 minutes journey time.
Bus
From outside all terminals the Aerobus runs every 15 minutes to destinations in Barcelona, including Sants train station, Plaza Catalunya, Urgell and Plaza Universidad. Purchase tickets on the bus. TMB City Bus Line 46 stops at Terminal 1, Terminals 2B and 2C, this service runs to Plaza de Espana in the city centre and is also cheaper public transport option.
Train
Terminal buildings 2A and 2B have an airport railway station accessed by an elevated walkway. Trains depart every half an hour to Barcelona Sants Station and connect with the local Metro underground network. From this main railway station you can also take trains to Salou.
The new Terminal 1 is not yet served by train, take a free shuttle bus to/from the Terminal 2 train station.
