Busy Cochin International Airport lies close to major roads and the main railway line from Kanyakumari to Delhi. It is located 18 miles or half an hour's drive north of town, at Nedumbassery. Kochi is the original name of the city, Cochin is the colonial name. It is Kerala's second largest city, situated on the west coast of India bordering the Arabian Sea. With a population of over 2 million people, it is a metropolis of great commercial and technological importance. Nearby Kochi port is one of the largest in India. The islands that make up Kochi are connected by ferry, bridges and roads connect Ernakulam with Willingdon Island and Fort Kochi/ Mattancherry.
