| Quick Guide to the Sights of Ibiza, Spain The old walled town of Ibiza (d'Alt Vila) is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It overlooks a beautiful natural harbour from a hilltop fortress and is rich in history and architecture. The museums and galleries display art and artefacts all year round. The Gothic cathedral and the Archeological Museum are well worth a visit. The narrow whitewashed streets outside the citadel walls are crammed with many bars and shops. In the newer part you'll find wide boulevards and bobbing yachts in Sa Penya port. Pache, El Divino, Amnesia and Privilege are some of the big-name world famous Ibizan discos. Relatively unspoilt areas can still be found around the island, such as the lovely beaches of S'Aigua Blanca and Cala Xarrace in the northeast. Cala Hort on the southwest coast lies in a spectacular rocky setting. Ibiza also boasts about half a dozen campsites. Camping Cala Nova for example lies close to a good beach near the resort of Cala Nova. The smaller, less developed island of Formentera is a popular 30 minute ferry trip away from Ibiza. This 12 mile long island offers fine long beaches, walking and cycling. | ||
