Guide to Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig, Andorra Ski Resorts

The ultra modern winter ski resort of Pas de La Casa is situated in the eastern side of Andorra, right on the French border near the Languedoc Rousillon province. Pas shares its slopes and is lift-linked with the Grau Roig skiing area, offering a large choice of intermediate terrain and good beginner slopes. A few advanced black runs can also be found here. The Ski Andorra lift pass covers Andorra’s major winter ski areas, such as Arinsal, Ordino (Arcalis), Pal, Pas de la Casa/Grau Roig and Soldeu el Tartar.

Getting to Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig

The quickest and cheapest way to travel to the Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig ski resort is to first find one of the many cheap flights to Perpignan, the nearest international airport which is 80 miles by road, Barcelona (140 miles by road) or Toulouse airport 100 miles. Transfers can be slow if you don't have a hire car. Bus services from the airports take about 4 hours, larger parties might consider hiring a taxi or minibus. Tour groups using buses from Toulouse airport pass first through Pas de la Casa and then down to Soldeu. Regular daily ski buses connect surrounding villages.

Accommodation in Pas de la Casa

Much of the accommodation in Pas de la Casa is in apartments which can be rented by the week. Prices range from around EUR200 p.p. for a studio for a week to EUR450 p.p. in high season, depending on location and level of luxury. Hotel Central is a good local budget hotel. Pas has around 11000 beds to choose from, and you can ski to most of the accommodation.

Bars, restaurants and apres-ski in Pas de la Casa

Local services at the slopes are generally cheap, fast and cheerful, or choose from fondues and local cuisine. You can also get good burgers, paella and pizzas in the restaurants. Try the Refugi dels Llacs Pessons for nice food and service by a log fire. A host of duty-free shops and supermarkets are also on offer.
Pas has plenty of of bars and loud music for hardcore partying and beer is cheap. Some popular hangouts are Pub Milwaukee and Discoteca Bilboard, or try the Underground, Milwaukee, KYU, The Marseillais or West End bar. However, many times the chaps seriously outnumber the girls.

Activities in Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig

Snowboarding is popular and there is a board park and half pipe in the Tubs piste in Pas de la Casa. The ski school has good English speaking instructors. Both resorts have a ski kindergarten for small children. Activities include a sports centre with swimming pool, snowmobiling, duty free shopping, excursions to Andorra La Vella.
