Vancouver International airport is a pleasant, relatively tranquil airport located on Sea Island, linked to the city by the Arthur Laing Bridge, Moray Bridge and Highway 99.
The city is also a major port for cruise ships to Alaska, especially in the summer months.
Taxi Licensed metered taxis are available 24 hours a day, fares to downtown and cruise terminals costs approximately $30-35, limousines for up to 6 people $43 plus tax.
Bus The main public transport into town is now via the rapid electric light railway (see below). Courtesy shuttle buses provide service to locations around the airport. The Aeroshuttle minibus provides transport to downtown hotels. Scheduled long-distance buses travel to Vancouver Island, Washington State, Whistler ski resort, central Vancouver, Seattle. Train Canada Line train at Vancouver airportThe new YVR-Airport station is located between the two terminals, electric trains now run along the Canada Line from the airport to Vancouver city centre and Waterfront Station in 26 minutes, to downtown Richmond in 18 minutes. The cheapest way to travel from YVR airport to Canada Place cruise port is to take the electric train to Waterfront Station and walk the last few blocks. (For Ballantyne Pier cruise port take a taxi).
The main Pacific Central Station at Station Street is a transportation hub for bus and rail and it is also adjacent to the metro network at Main Street SkyTrain Station.
